Tobago: the definitive tourist guide

A visitor information guide to the jewel of the Caribbean

This website is our tribute to the stunning island of Tobago – the jewel in the Caribbean crown.

myTobago IS the definitive guide to Tobago. Our readership is greater than the combined total of every other website about the island. First time visitors will benefit hugely from the information presented here. Regulars will love the ability to share opinion and keep in touch via our discussion forum.

We had hoped that Tobago might remain undiscovered. In contradiction, we also wanted to shout about it from the rooftops. On balance, the friendly and hospitable Tobagonians deserve the benefits of tourism. So, please allow us to share our opinions with you and to recommend the island as the ultimate chill-out holiday destination.

Beautiful as it is, Tobago will not suit everyone. If you are looking for 24-hour activity, then look elsewhere. If you want far-eastern standards of service, or Dubai-class hotels, then think again. However, as a place to relax and lime (a local expression meaning to 'hang out' and chat) the island is unsurpassed.

The primary purpose of myTobago is to lift the lid on the island as a holiday destination. Allow us to tell you what the island has to offer through the eyes, and from the perspective, of visitors like yourself. There's no glossy marketing hype here – just down-to-earthunbiased information and opinion, with frank and honest review of hotels, guesthouses, holiday apartments, rental villas, restaurants, car hire, excursions – in fact of every type of tourism-related business.

A lovely water lily - click the photograph to enlargeOur aim is to steer you to the best of Tobago and away from the worst. We applaud those who provide good service and condemn those who don't. If we can help you to make the most of your holiday, you are more likely to return and to recommend the island to others.

This is not a site for the politically over-correct or those who think it wrong to be judgemental. If Tobago is to reap the benefits of tourism those involved must heed the views of visitors. We can't stop tourism. We can only hope that the opinion expressed here will help the island to develop as a high-quality holiday destination rather than as a rip-off destination.

This site is largely non-commercial. We do not even live on the island. myTobago simply helps us to feel closer to an island we love and foreshortens the interval between our visits. Information about the site's background and our motivation is available in the About myTobago article.

If you are intrigued by this beautiful island's ability to create 'Tobago Junkies' like ourselves, then please read on........
